Por lo general, no soy de los que \u00abescriben una rese\u00f1a\u00bb para el bien o los servicios. Pero cuando se trata de Sylvie y su equipo, no pude guardar me esto para m\u00ed. Un poco de fondo… mi hija conoci\u00f3 a su futuro esposo mientras asist\u00eda a una universidad en un peque\u00f1o pueblo en Oklahoma. Es originario de la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana y se mud\u00f3 a Nueva York cuando ten\u00eda 9 a\u00f1os. Durante su noviazgo sus padres hicieron un viaje de regreso a RD para visitar a su familia y ella tuvo la oportunidad de ir con ellos. Durante su visita, se enamor\u00f3 de la gente y de la cultura. Ella siempre hab\u00eda dicho que quer\u00eda una boda en el lugar de destino, as\u00ed que cuando decidieron casarse, fue una opci\u00f3n obvia hacerlo en la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana. Esto les dio la oportunidad de incluir su lado de la familia que permanece en RD y de que nosotros mismos experimentemos la cultura.<\/p>\n

No sab\u00eda nada de planear una boda de destino. Empec\u00e9 con los hoteles, pero se retrasaron mucho o no respondieron a nuestros correos electr\u00f3nicos. Desanimado, empec\u00e9 a investigar a los organizadores de bodas en la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana. Despu\u00e9s de encontrar varios, empec\u00e9 a enviarles correos electr\u00f3nicos a cada uno de ellos. Sab\u00eda que estaba dando un salto de fe al \u00abcontratar\u00bb a alguien que nunca hab\u00eda conocido cara a cara. Mucha gente me pregunt\u00f3 si estaba nervioso por eso, y tengo que admitirlo, era un poco desconcertante. Tantas cosas podr\u00edan haber salido mal….podr\u00eda haber sido estafado por dinero, los arreglos no eran lo que hab\u00edamos pedido, el personal podr\u00eda haber sido grosero, etc. Pero tengo que decir que fue todo lo contrario. Desde el principio Sylvie fue muy receptiva a cada correo electr\u00f3nico y\/o pregunta que yo ten\u00eda. Incluso se encarg\u00f3 de visitar la villa que est\u00e1bamos alquilando, antes de que yo la hubiera contratado, para ver si hab\u00eda espacio. Su cita de lo que quer\u00edamos era a\u00fan menor que la de los dem\u00e1s. Desde ese momento supe que ella era la persona que necesitaba para ayudarme con esta gran empresa. Le enviamos por correo electr\u00f3nico fotos de Pinterest de lo que quer\u00edamos y discutimos un poco de log\u00edstica, pero aparte de eso no hicimos mucho m\u00e1s. Recuerdo que me sub\u00ed al avi\u00f3n y pens\u00e9: \u00abBueno, aqu\u00ed no hay nada\u00bb. Rezando para que esta persona en la que hab\u00eda confiado nos ayudara. Me asegur\u00f3 que no me preocupara y todo lo que pude hacer fue creer en su palabra. Mirando hacia atr\u00e1s….realmente deseaba haberla escuchado, porque TODO era absolutamente maravilloso; la decoraci\u00f3n era perfecta, los ramos eran hermosos, la comida deliciosa, el personal fueron incre\u00edbles! Realmente no puedo decir o agradecer a Sylvie lo suficiente, ella hizo que los sue\u00f1os de mi hija se hicieran realidad.<\/p>\n

But when it comes to Sylvie and her team, I could not keep this to myself. A bit of background\u2026my daughter met her future husband while attending a junior college in a small town in Oklahoma. He is originally from DR and moved to NY when he was 9. During their courtship his parents took a trip back to DR to visit family and she had the opportunity to go with them. While visiting, she fell in love with the people and the culture. She had always said she wanted a destination wedding, so when they decided to get married, it was an obvious choice to do it in DR. This gave them the opportunity to include his side of the family that remains in DR and for us to experience the culture ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I knew nothing of planning a destination wedding. I started out with the hotels, but they were either very delayed or unresponsive to our emails. Becoming discouraged, I then began to research wedding planners in DR. After finding several, I began emailing each of them. I knew I was taking a leap of faith by \u201chiring\u201d someone I had never met face to face. So many people asked if I was nervous about that, and I have to admit, it was a bit unnerving. So many things could have gone wrong\u2026I could have been scammed out of money, the arrangements not what we had asked for, the staff could have been rude, etc. But I have to say, it was completely the opposite. From the very beginning Sylvie was very responsive to every email and\/or question I had. She even took it upon herself to visit the villa we were renting, before I had even hired her, to see if there was space. Her quote for what we wanted was even less than everyone else. I knew from that moment, she was who I needed to help me with this huge undertaking. We emailed her pictures from Pinterest of what we wanted and discussed some logistics, but other than that we didn\u2019t do much else. I remember getting on the plane and thinking \u201cwell here goes nothing\u201d. Praying that this person I had trusted would come through for us. She kept assuring me not to worry and all I could do was take her word for it. Looking back\u2026I really wished I had listened to her, because EVERYTHING was absolutely wonderful; the d\u00e9cor was perfect, the bouquets were beautiful, the food was delicious, the staff were amazing!!
