Je ne suis pas du genre \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9crire une critique\u00a0\u00bb pour un bien ou un service. Mais quand il s’agit de Sylvie et de son \u00e9quipe, je ne pouvais pas garder \u00e7a pour moi. Un peu de fond… ma fille a rencontr\u00e9 son futur mari alors qu’elle fr\u00e9quentait un coll\u00e8ge junior dans une petite ville de l’Oklahoma. Il est originaire de DR et a d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 New York quand il avait 9 ans. Au cours de leur cour, ses parents sont retourn\u00e9s en RD pour rendre visite \u00e0 leur famille et elle a eu l’occasion d’aller avec eux. Pendant sa visite, elle est tomb\u00e9e amoureuse des gens et de la culture. Elle avait toujours dit qu’elle voulait un mariage de destination, donc quand ils ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de se marier, c’\u00e9tait un choix \u00e9vident de le faire en DR. Cela leur a donn\u00e9 l’occasion d’inclure son c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la famille qui reste en RD et pour nous d’exp\u00e9rimenter la culture nous-m\u00eames.<\/p>\n

Je ne savais rien de l’organisation d’un mariage \u00e0 destination. J’ai commenc\u00e9 par les h\u00f4tels, mais ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s retard\u00e9s ou n’ont pas r\u00e9pondu \u00e0 nos courriels. Devenant d\u00e9courag\u00e9, j’ai alors commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 rechercher des planificateurs de mariage dans DR. Apr\u00e8s en avoir trouv\u00e9 plusieurs, j’ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 les envoyer par courriel. Je savais que je faisais un acte de foi en \u00ab\u00a0engageant\u00a0\u00bb quelqu’un que je n’avais jamais rencontr\u00e9 face \u00e0 face. Tant de gens m’ont demand\u00e9 si j’\u00e9tais nerveux \u00e0 ce sujet, et je dois admettre, \u00e9tait un peu. Tant de choses auraient pu mal tourner… J’aurais pu \u00eatre escroqu\u00e9 avec de l’argent, les arrangements n’\u00e9taient pas ceux que nous avions demand\u00e9s, le personnel aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 grossier, etc. Mais je dois dire que c’\u00e9tait tout le contraire. D\u00e8s le d\u00e9but, Sylvie a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s r\u00e9ceptive \u00e0 tous les courriels et \u00e0 toutes les questions que j’avais. Elle a m\u00eame pris l’initiative de visiter la villa que nous louions, avant m\u00eame que je ne l’aie engag\u00e9e, pour voir s’il y avait de la place. Sa citation pour ce que nous voulions \u00e9tait encore moins que tout le monde. J’ai su d\u00e8s ce moment qu’elle \u00e9tait celle dont j’avais besoin pour m’aider dans cette immense entreprise. Nous lui avons envoy\u00e9 par courriel des photos de Pinterest de ce que nous voulions et avons discut\u00e9 de logistique, mais \u00e0 part cela, nous n’avons pas fait grand chose d’autre. Je me souviens d’\u00eatre mont\u00e9 dans l’avion et d’avoir pens\u00e9 : \u00ab\u00a0Eh bien, ici, il n’y a rien\u00a0\u00bb. Priant pour que cette personne en qui j’avais confiance puisse nous aider. Elle n’arr\u00eatait pas de m’assurer de ne pas m’inqui\u00e9ter et tout ce que je pouvais faire \u00e9tait de la croire sur parole. En y repensant…j’aurais vraiment aim\u00e9 l’avoir \u00e9cout\u00e9e, parce que TOUT \u00e9tait absolument merveilleux ; le d\u00e9cor \u00e9tait parfait, les bouquets \u00e9taient beaux, la nourriture \u00e9tait d\u00e9licieuse, le \u00e9tait incroyable !! Je ne saurais trop dire ou remercier Sylvie, elle a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 les r\u00eaves de mes filles.<\/p>\n

But when it comes to Sylvie and her team, I could not keep this to myself. A bit of background\u2026my daughter met her future husband while attending a junior college in a small town in Oklahoma. He is originally from DR and moved to NY when he was 9. During their courtship his parents took a trip back to DR to visit family and she had the opportunity to go with them. While visiting, she fell in love with the people and the culture. She had always said she wanted a destination wedding, so when they decided to get married, it was an obvious choice to do it in DR. This gave them the opportunity to include his side of the family that remains in DR and for us to experience the culture ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I knew nothing of planning a destination wedding. I started out with the hotels, but they were either very delayed or unresponsive to our emails. Becoming discouraged, I then began to research wedding planners in DR. After finding several, I began emailing each of them. I knew I was taking a leap of faith by \u201chiring\u201d someone I had never met face to face. So many people asked if I was nervous about that, and I have to admit, it was a bit unnerving. So many things could have gone wrong\u2026I could have been scammed out of money, the arrangements not what we had asked for, the staff could have been rude, etc. But I have to say, it was completely the opposite. From the very beginning Sylvie was very responsive to every email and\/or question I had. She even took it upon herself to visit the villa we were renting, before I had even hired her, to see if there was space. Her quote for what we wanted was even less than everyone else. I knew from that moment, she was who I needed to help me with this huge undertaking. We emailed her pictures from Pinterest of what we wanted and discussed some logistics, but other than that we didn\u2019t do much else. I remember getting on the plane and thinking \u201cwell here goes nothing\u201d. Praying that this person I had trusted would come through for us. She kept assuring me not to worry and all I could do was take her word for it. Looking back\u2026I really wished I had listened to her, because EVERYTHING was absolutely wonderful; the d\u00e9cor was perfect, the bouquets were beautiful, the food was delicious, the staff were amazing!!
